Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a official statement that the prison’s warden was “helping” Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

The exact content of the clemency request are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other inmates, she was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to call and how staff would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to her include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning the convict is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as the President's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the chief executive to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
